FREE GIFT ETCHED INTO A RING-PULL

Africa was drowning on a pin head
the world was blank currency
a forgery of breath & articulation
i knew no one
& i should’ve known better
so many pills to push
& not a handcart to be found

the day was a free gift
etched into a ring-pull
you could taste the sugar & aluminium
old school wisdom said
it was all about hatching plans
if you can just get them to believe
it doesn’t really matter in what

the good work was over now
replaced or covered up with
a low grade derision
i took a match out of the box
split it with my thumb nail
and threw a flaming trapeze
into the oncoming high-beams

crapped out & foreclosed
small talk on a minimum wage
Africa drowned on a pin head
and measurements were taken
for an early grave.

It works good both ways
We both get to have a new best friend and for that short time it's like we're made for each other.
Yeah we're all hungry for something - best not get greedy though, eh?

But come with me now, I'll show you something.
No one ever comes down here; it's like a labyrinth
of diesel drenched inspection pits right under the dancefloor
It would've been the workshop for the old bus garage before it all got de-regulated
Yeah, it's weird innit?
I've been living down here for years. Got freezers plugged in and everything. Somewhere to cook… and free food - hallelujah!

What more could your Average Jesus want?

...and I'll up the stakes. Terminate everything: desire, energy, anything you've got, in an orgy - in an orgy of ultra-violet seduction on this night of the dancing dead. Where all the corpses queue up in a kind of nightmare trip. They've all got this dream of escape - like it's just one pill away, well come and swallow my pills, eh? They're made with adrenaline and fear. And the last dying rays of yesterday's sun.
Cos tonight is forever - eternity is here, and tomorrow will never come. No, tomorrow will never come.
